THE TENTH ELENA OBRAZTSOVA INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION OF YOUNG OPERA SINGERS
CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION
The Competition is open to Russian and foreign performers, age from 18 to 32 on the day of the registration.
Handing in an application
Applications for the participation in the Competition should be sent to the Directorate of the Competition by post to the following address:
Russia, 191025, St. Petersburg, Nevsky pr., 65, The Elena Obraztsova Cultural Centre
Directorate of the competition will accept the applications starting with November 25th, 2014 till June 1st, 2015 (according to the postmark on the envelope).
The applications and other necessary documents sent by e-mail will be accepted only if there is a confirmation of the sending of the hard copies by post.
In addition to the application (an example application form is attached) the following documents should be presented by a contestant:
1) One photo (size 9х12) to be included in the official catalogue of the Competition. The photo can be sent by e-mail, in the high resolution (not less than 300 dpi).
2) One photo of the accompanist (size 6x9), who performs with the contestant (size 6х9)
3) Contestant рpassport copy
4) Artistic biography of the contestant
5) Artistic biography of the accompanist
6) Music material of the works performed in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds for the accompanist on duty
7) Copy of the payment document confirming the admission fee transferred (only for the Russian citizens).
The contestants are responsible for the exactness of the information stated in the applications.
All the compositions in the contestant's program should be stated in the source language, with Russian translation for the booklet of the Competition.
The program stated in the applications can’t be changed later.
Directorate will send the official invitation for participation in the competition to every registered applicant by e-mail within 15 days after getting the documents
(according to the postmark on the envelope).
Every participant confirms his arrival to the competition before August 10th, 2015 by a telegram, fax or e-mail.
Directorate of the Competition reserves the right to present all the information materials and photos sent by the participants for the mass media needs.
Directorate of the Competition can provide the participants with a skilled accompanist according to the preliminary application which should be sent by the
May 20th, 2015.
Every participant will get an official notice about the accompanist with whom he performs on the Competition before May 31st, 2015.
Rehearsals:
Directorate of the Competition provides every contestant with a 30 minutes rehearsal before 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds at the rehearsal rooms of the Grand Hall of
the D.D.Shostakovich St.Petersburg Academic Philharmonia.
The entrance fee
The entrance fee in amount of 4.500,00 Rubles should be paid by the contestants from Russia and CIS to the operating account of the Elena Obraztsova Cultural
Centre in St. Petersburg up to the June 1st, 2015. Foreign participants should pay directly to the Directorate of the Competition during the registration on
August 22nd, 2015.
Accommodation and travel
Directorate of the Competition provides foreign contestants with the visa supporting.
All the expenses related to the arrival and departure should be covered by the participants themselves.
Music material
The participants who request an accompanist on duty should send music material (photocopies or files in electronic format recorded on CD) of the works
performed on 1st and 2nd rounds to the Directorate of the Competition together with the application, i.e. not later than June 1st, 2015, according to the postmark
on the envelope.
Concert clothes
For performing in all three rounds of the Competition the evening dress is obligatory - tailcoat or black suit for men and long concert dress for women.
