Gloria Vildarell was born in the city of Barcelona, into a family with a rich musical tradition.
Her grandfather on her mother’s side of the family was the great tenor Francisco Vinas,
and her grandmother on her mother’s side was the mezzo-soprano Julia Noveli.
In 1962 she graduated with a degree in Law from Barcelona University, where she then defended
her Doctor’s thesis.
In 1963 she became a member of the Barcelona Advocates’ College. At the same time, she entered
Yale University in the USA with a scholarship. She subsequently graduated from Yale’s Law Faculty
and in 1972 received yet another degree, in Philosophy.
While she was still young, she worked on the Singers’ Competitions of her grandfather Francisco
Vinas, which were founded by her father, Jasinto Vildarell.
A year later she began working at the Carlos and Montserrat Caballe Music Agency, in close
collaboration with the Liceu Theatre in Barcelona and the Sarsuela Theatre in Madrid.
In 1988 Gloria Vilardell set up her own private music agency, and has been working there as director
up until the present. She has brought to Spain such talented and famous singers as Elena
Obraztsova, Frederica Von Stade, Kathleen Battle, Mirella Freni, Katia Riccarelli, Hildegard Behrens,
Angela Gheorghiu, Rene Fleming, Maria Gulegina, Larissa Diadkova, Georgina Lukacs,
Nikolai Gyaurov and many more.She is currently working in close coordination with all the theatres in
Spain and many of those elsewhere in Europe, as a musical adviser for different musical associations.
