 MATTI PALM
Matti Palm was born in Tallinn, Estonia, received his musical education at the Tallinn Conservatory 
where he studied with J. Siymon, then at the Moscow Conservatory and the «La Scala». 
At the beginning of his professional career Matti Palm won several prizes at various international 
competitions, was awarded the State Prize of the USSR in 1983, and the G. Otts Prize in 1984. 
At present, Mr. Palm is professor of vocal at the Estonian Academy of Music and a leading soloist with 
«Estonia>> theatre where he has worked since 1967. His repertoire includes over opera 50 parts, 
including Boris and Pimen (Boris Godunov), Ivan Khovansky and Dosifei (Khovanshchina), 
Philipp (Don Carlos), The Dutchman (Der fliegende Hollaender). He has appeared on the best concert 
stages the world over, was member of jury of several intarnational competitions. Apart from opera parts, 
there are over 60 cantatas and oratories in his repertoire, numerous chamber programs, among them 
works by modern composers.
