Tadayeshi Gundi graduated from the Musashino Academy of Music in Japan with a degree in singing.
He made his debut in 1972 with the arias ‘Il primo gindice’ and ‘Il servo di Amelia’ in Verdi’s opera
‘Un ballo in maschera’. Afterwards he appeared on stage as comprimario in the operas ‘La Traviata’
(Verdi), ‘Il tabarro’ (Puccini), and ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’ (Donizetti).
In 1974, Mr. Gundi received the gold medal in the Italo-Japanese Vocal Competition, a competition of
Japanese music.
Four years later he entered the Verdi Conservatory in Milan. He studied singing and antique musical
style, under the tuition of Rosanna Jankola; and operatic vocal art, under the tuition of Raphaello
Mingardo and Antonio Tonini, who taught Maria Callas in the Ozimo Conservatory.
Tadayeshi Gundi has won the Voce Verdiano di Busseto competition, and also the International Lonigo
competition. Afterwards he appeared in concerts at the Piccolo Scala Theatre and on his way home
performed in the largest opera houses of many Japanese cities.
In 1995 Mr. Gundi met Elena Obraztsova. Following that, he appeared with Ms. Obraztsova and
Makvala Kasrashvili in several gala-concerts in Tokyo, which met with great success. Together they
have also given 5 concerts in 4 different Russian cities, all of which were extremely well received.
At present Tadayeshi Gundi is a professor at the Musashino Music Academy.
