Educated at Kings College, University of London [Bachelor of Music and AKC in Theology]
and the Guildhall School of Music. Studied Conducting, French Horn and Organ.
Conducted many choral concerts in central London churches and also special services in
the Chapel of Lambeth Palace for the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Formed and managed a pan-European chamber orchestra, Per Musica, arranging tours
in Italy, the Netherlands and the UK.
Worked with the European Community Youth Orchestra as a tour manager for three seasons.
Entered the Artist Management business in 1984 at Ibbs & Tillett, working with major artists
including Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Emil Gilels, Paul Tortelier, Rudolf Serkin and Segovia.
Joined the major vocal agency Lies Askonas Ltd in 1993 as a director and became a
director of Askonas Holt Ltd in July 1998 working for Singers, Conductors and Instrumentalists.
Has personally managed the careers of many important artists including Maxim Vengerov
[from 1987 - 2001] and Dmitri Hvorostovsky since 1989. Other artists with whom he has
worked closely for many years include June Anderson, Kathleen Battle, Angela Gheorghiu,
Maria Guleghina, Paata Burchuladze and Frans Bruggen.
The promotion of young artistic talent has always been central to his work and current young
rising starsinclude Tugan Sokhiev, Sergey Khachatryan, Han-Na Chang, Daniil Shtoda and
Ekaterina Semenchuk.
In May 2005 he played a major role in the Hero City Tour of Russia, commemorating the 60th
Anniversary of the Great War, with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and the Moscow Chamber Orchestra
and Constantine Orbelian with concerts in Moscow, Tula, Smolensk, Volgograd, Krasnoyarsk,
Novosibirsk, Ekateringburg, and St .Petersburg. This tour then continued with performances
in Paris, London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington and New York.
In October 2005 he organized the first ever staged performance of Wagner's Ring Cycle in
China under the auspices of the Beijing International Music Festival at the Polytheatre
in Beijing.
Previously has been a jury member of the Rimsky-Korsakov Competition in St.Petersburg
since its inception in 1996 and of the Elena Obratsova Competition in St. Petersburg in 1999.
